A lifelong resident of Alabama and 38-year resident of Shelby County, Leigh Hulsey has spent the past 13 years faithfully serving the citizens of Helena on the City Council. She brings to the table nearly ten years running a successful small business dedicated to helping local community members transform their lives for the better. Leigh understands the unique challenges of being a small business owner and entrepreneur and knows that the best thing the government can often do is get out of the way. Leigh is a wife and mother. Her husband of 25 years, Dennis, and she have three children: Bradon, Cade, and RK. Each has grown up in Shelby County and been a part of the public school system. Leigh is a proud graduate of Auburn University. She currently serves as President Pro Tem for the City of Helena. One of the recent successful projects she has helped lead was bringing Chick-fil-A and added infrastructure improvements to the city. She is proud of her fiscally conservative, pro-jobs mindset and approach to servant leadership. Over the last nine years as a Council Member, she has helped create financial reserves of over $4.2M. This was done while maintaining current services and even adding improvements to the city's schools, police, fire, and recreation departments.
